Drug Trafficking

Alleged trafficking of a controlled substance is one of the most serious criminal charges a person can face. Whether an alleged offender is facing state or federal trafficking charges, convictions often carry severe sentences that can include lengthy—and possibly mandatory minimum—terms of imprisonment.

While many people mistakenly believe that drug trafficking is a criminal offense that involves controlled substances being dealt or moved, the truth is that these charges are typically based on the amount of drugs that are seized. With certain types of controlled substances, the possession limits can be incredibly small and a person may be charged with trafficking merely for having a drug that was only intended for personal use.
